Good Words from the Word Part 6
We can all use some encouragement. Why not open our hearts and minds to the One we call the Word, the embodiment of Divine wisdom and life?
My heart aches for Peter when he denies he knows Jesus. My heart aches because I can relate. How about you?
Jesus responds to our denials with a very good question: Do you love me (John 21:15)? Jesus did not shame Peter. Jesus did not excommunicate Peter. Jesus did not even punish Peter.
Jesus just wants to know if we still love him?!
Peter did not hesitate with an answer. Yes Lord, you know that I love you. It all comes back to love. Love is the word of the Word. Even in our denials and betrayals, love is the bridge to forgiveness.
When we confess our love for Jesus, he puts us back to work, just like he did Peter. Feed my sheep, Jesus implores. Take care of one another. Pay forward the love I gracefully give you. Be merciful. Be forgiving. Show your love for me by serving others.
The Word is for you. The Word loves you still. Take heart, be encouraged.
Yours in Christ,
Marc
