Yesterday we took notebooks, pens, pencils, erasers and sharpeners to a
school. We took the money from the choir and the men's breakfast and from
the friends and family of a gal that use to be here and bought 4500
notebooks, pens, pencils etc. The father of one of our local interpreters
is a teacher at the school. There are over 4000 students at this school. The
girls and youg boys go to class from 7-10 a.m. and the rest of the boys are
split into two other groups 10-1, and then 1-5. The young ones and the
girls are out of school for 10 days because of the heat but we passed out
stuff t kids at 10 and went back at 2. There are 120 teachers split between
the groups and they earn an average of $80/month. We took boxes of clothes
and shoes for the teachers to sort through to take to their families.
