Home Up Music Parish Nurse Parish Care Work Camp 2002 Afganistan Nicaragua

Each year a team of youth and adults set aside a week of June, and a large measure of energy and effort to share the love and compassion of Christ.

This year, from June 16-22, the Work Camp team visited the Emmaus Homes in Marthasville, Missouri. Emmaus is a residential and educational facility for developmentally disabled adults. Emmaus provides a caring home for people who are unable to live independently. Established and operated as a mission of the United Church of Christ, Emmaus has received the financial support of Friedens for many years. But this year Emmaus received our "hands-on" involvement as well. In return the Work Camp team learn to be more accepting and understanding of our brothers and sisters in the human family who are differently abled.

The members of the team were:

Adults: Marc and Julie Hayden, Mike and Jill Rusk, Larry Smith
Youth: Megan and Holly Devlin, Ashley Hayden, Geoff Kamp, Mary Weissinger, Brian Muse, Megan and Molly Vance, Kristen Hoffmann, Brinn Granger, Brendan Begley, Kelli Hastings, Donnie Miller, Sarah Phillips, and Anna Baar.

The Blood Drive in July was a great success, with 19 donors.  These people literally gave the gift of life to others.  Our thanks to all of them.
