Do you know the sudden signs of stroke?

bulletWeakness on one side
bulletTrouble seeing

If you see someone having any of these symptoms, call 911 immediately. Getting to a hospital within 60 minutes can prevent disability. Your telephone can make the difference between a stroke that may take a few weeks of recovery and one that takes a life. The faster you call 911 and get to a hospital, the greater your chance of limiting stroke damage.

bulletTreat diabetes
bulletEat a healthy diet
bulletBe physically active
bulletMaintain a healthy weight
bulletControl high blood pressure
bulletGet regular medical checkups

Detection - Know the warning signs

bulletSudden numbness or weakness of the face, arm, or leg, especially on one side of the body
bulletSudden confusion or trouble speaking or understanding
bulletSudden trouble seeing in one or both eyes
bulletSudden trouble walking, dizziness, loss of balance or coordination
bulletSudden severe headache with no known cause

Survive! Call 911 immediately if any signs occur...even if they last only a short time. Receiving treatment within three hours can significantly reduce the debilitating effects of stroke and minimize permanent disability.
